Craig in P6 is the new Mosstowie Conker Champion!  This also makes him the Unofficial World Under 12 Conker Champion because (as far as we know) there is no other school or body that has this competition.

The Mosstowie rules are simple. The winners in the early round games are the first to make 10 hits (after each pair of competitors have had the same number of shots).  The semi-finals arethe first to 15 and the final is first to 20 hits.  Destruction of an opponents conker instantly wins any game (as long as your conker remians on its string) but unusually there were no 'destructions' in the competition this year.

None-the-less this year's competition was very exciting.  This year was also a bumper year for conkers and there was no shortage of 'weapons' in our knock-out competition which took place at break and lunchtimes over a three week period.

In the final Craig defeated a battling Carla who was also last years winner and the big favourite.  Amazingly the final score in 2016 was 20-16, mirroring the year itself!

Carla showed the whole school how important it is to be able to lose well and she was particularly sporting, immediately congratulating the new champion.  Craig became the first winner of the newtrophy - a conker weilding hedgehog on a horse chestnut mount!  He also got conker garlands and a huge bag of conkers to take home.  Next year he has the chance to retain the trophy, a feat that has never been achieved before.
