P5-P7 pupils led a very moving Remembrance Day Service at the local war memorial in Miltonduff. The focus this year was on the two sets of brothers, named on the memorial, who died in World War 1.
Their stories were told by our own two sets of brothers in the senior class. Well done Tyler and Lee & Liam and Lewis - you were all excellent. Carla also did an excellent job as main speaker and Liam sang the duet (which names all the local fallen soldiers from World War 1) perfectly.
Dan in P3 laid the wreath on behalf of the school along with Mrs Yool, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, who represented the Queen and the local community.
I was very proud of the pupils - both those leading the service and the rest of the school who were an attentive and respectful audience. A special 'Well done" to the boys and girls of the Miltonduff Playgroup, who also attended and were so quiet!
Thank you also to reporter Ben Hendry, from the Press and Journal, also covered the service and wrote an excellent feature which appeared on Saturday the 12th of November, page 18.
You can also see a video of the service on the Mosstowie Parent Council Facebook page.
Thank you to all of the members of the local community who braced the cold wind to pay their respects to the fallen and to support the school children.
